Biography[]

The Chase Begins — 2010-2011:

A year after completing the Police Academy at 25 years old, Chase was sent to investigate a rumored breakout that was going to happen on Albatross Island. Arriving too late, Chase was then assigned by Chief Gleeson to track down the crime lord Rex Fury, a criminal whom the LEGO City Police Department cannot prove any crimes against. During the investigation, Chase met Natalia Kowalski, a reporter for a local news station. While investigating a communication blackout at Apollo Island, Chase saved both Natalia and Henrik Kowalski from Rex, which led Natalia to testify against him. Chase finally subdued Rex, suffering a concussion. While partially unconscious, Chase accidentally revealed on live television that Natalia was the secret witness in the Rex Fury trial. Because of that, Natalia had to go into witness protection, leaving her job as a reporter. Although Chief Gleeson promoted Chase to detective, Deputy Dunby filed paperwork to ship off Chase to "The Other End of the World," kicking him off the dock into a freight boat. He also had Chase's passport revoked, effectively exiling him.

Exile — 2011-2012:

After proving he was not a stowaway on the cargo ship, Chase arrived at Studson Port in Brick County. On arrival, Chase found out that Dunby had transferred him to a desk job in a small, one-horse police department. It is unknown what had happened during that time, although he did manage to acquire a new passport to return to the city.

Going Undercover — 2013:

Upon his return, Chase meets Mayor Gleeson, who informs him that Rex Fury escaped and was now at large in LEGO City. The city was now in the midst of a crime wave, and it seemed that Rex was behind it. Chase asks the Mayor if Natalia was okay, which the mayor said that she was, and gave him Natalia's phone number. Arriving at the station, Chase meets Frank Honey, a new cop who is one of the few who know that Chase was the one who caught Rex last time. As the receptionist enters Chase into the system, he calls Natalia, who since entering witness protection worked at Mercy Hearts Hospital as a paramedic. She asks why he's calling her, which Chase tells her Rex that is out, and he's making sure she's okay. After telling her that Rex is still in the city, Natalia hangs up the phone, still angry with him. Chase gets the unpleasant surprise of finding out that Dunby is the new chief of police, and that he's claiming to have brought Rex to justice. After getting briefed on the Rex situation, Chase begins tracking down criminals who just robbed the LEGO City Bank. After investigating Rex's old prison cell on Albatross Island, Chase finds mining equipment from the Bluebell Mine.

At the mine, Chase overhears Rex telling his gang about a "special truck" that his gang is going to hijack. Chase tries to handcuff Rex, but Rex tears off the handcuffs and knocks Chase out. Duke Huckleberry finds him, along with Natalia. Chase learns that Natalia's dad has gone missing, and although he swears to find him, Natalia tells Chase to stay out of it. Huckleberry tells Chase to go to get some training in martial arts and tells him to see a guy named Barry. After getting trained, Chase stops thugs from Chan's gang from hijacking a new police department truck. Chase theorizes that that was what Rex was talking about when he told his guys about a "special truck," which means that Chan's gang is working for Rex. After going undercover in Chan's gang, Chase discovers that Chan is being paid by Vinnie Pappalardo, LEGO City's local mob boss. Told by the Mayor that he can do "whatever it takes to find Rex," Chase pulls a couple of heists to get close to the mafia. Chase gets a call from Natalia, who tells Chase that she might need some help. Natalia sneaked into Chan's scrapyard in Pagoda, and while she was in Chan's office, Chan walked in, making her hide behind a curtain. While Chase is talking to her, Chan discovers that she's there, and Natalia screams. Chase, with the help of officers Studski and Clutch, storms Chan's scrapyard rescuing Natalia and arresting many of Chan's thugs.

After many more heists, undercover operations, and rescues, Chase finally found Rex's secret lair, where he was holding Natalia's father, Henrik Kowalski. It is then revealed that Rex's Boss is Forrest Blackwell, the megabillionaire. Rex tries to get the code for a special device, and when Kowalski refuses, he reveals that they have his daughter. Because of that, Henrik finally gives in, telling Blackwell the code. Chase rescues Henrik, stealing a spacecraft to get away and find Natalia. Once they arrive at Blackwell's Mansion, they find that he has left it, but they find a model of a lunar base. Chase puts the clues together and realizes that Blackwell Tower is really a giant rocket, which when it launches will burn down LEGO City. Using the technology that Henrik developed, the rocket exhaust is contained, and LEGO City is saved.

But Rex Fury and Forrest Blackwell are still on that rocket, holding Natalia as a hostage. Chase suits up and pursues them in a space shuttle, tracking them down to a moon base. After launching the rocket back to Earth, and subduing Rex, Blackwell self-destructs the rocket, fleeing in the command module. Blackwell exits in an escape pod, leaving Natalia and a team of scientists plummeting toward Earth. Chase jumps after them, without a parachute. catching up to the command module, Chase boards it and pulls the parachute switch. Landing back in LEGO City, Chase is hailed as a hero. The Rex Fury case closes with Rex being led into a prisoner transport handcuffed and with his head stuck in a toilet. When asked about getting credit for Rex's arrest, Chase responds "You can have it, Chief. Some things... are more important than work."

Relationships[]

Marion Dunby[]

Chase's relationship with Marion is rather tense and irreparable. Mostly, he was treated unfairly ever since he joined the police department and met each other. Due to Chase infiltrating Albatross Island and has found a hammer from the Bluebell Mine to escape, he warns him to stay away from it because Sheriff Huckleberry can look into it, but he ignores his order and goes to the mine anyway. While Chase went undercover, Dunby is still distrustful towards him because he's paranoid that he might do something that officers should never do while on duty. Because he discovered that Chase stole an expensive sports car, a prison transport, a delivery truck full of electronics and the Bell Pepper Emerald, their tensions grew further and Dunby was on the brink on putting him on probation.

Their relationship is further strained because Chase was in Chan Chuang's scrapyard to rescue Natalia and Chan has disappeared, causing him to transfer Chase to Sheriff Huckleberry's department so he can't cause any trouble.

Near the end of the game however when Chase put up the forcefield to stop Blackwell's rocket from incinerating the city, Dunby was forced to admit that Chase saved a lot of lives, although it wasn't enough for him to not insult him one last time. Later on after returning to earth, as a sign of goodwill, Dunby said Chase should be the one to arrest Rex this time around.

Frank Honey[]

Frank idolizes Chase since the first time Rex was arrested, considering him to be a legend and eagerly helping out whenever they're assigned to tasks together. Chase is awkward to return affection and does get frustrated with Frank's incompetence at times, although he still does help Frank out of tough situations whenever the more inexperienced officer finds himself either kidnapped or unable to do a job right.

Vinnie Pappalardo[]

Despite being a mob boss, Chase does have a level of respect towards Vinnie (although he could be putting on a front while he was undercover). Vinnie's gang is also the only group of criminals Chase never fights in the game, and he even went as far as to save Vinnie's life when Rex ordered his men to do him.

It is unknown if Vinnie ever found out Chase was an undercover cop, although he might have when Chase was all over the news by the end of the game.
